The museum contains the art collection of the Foundling Hospital, London’s first home for abandoned children, including works by Hogarth, Gainsborough and Reynolds, in its original rococo setting and a collection of Handel memorabilia, including his will and conducting score of Messiah.
Visitors will be moved by the personal histories of the mothers for whom the hospital was the only hope for their children’s future, and details of the care given to the foundling children as told through a wealth of poignant artifacts preserved in the Hospital’s archives.
