Chelsea Physic Garden

The Chelsea Physic Garden was founded in 1673 by the Society of Apothecaries to study the therapeutic properties of plants. Displays include plants used in present day pharmaceuticals and a Garden of World Medicine showing the use of plants by indigenous peoples. In addition there are many rare plants and a rock garden from 1773.

Admission Details

  • Open April-October on Sunday 12.00-18.00 and Wednesday 12.00-17.00
  • Also open for Physic Garden Christmas Fair, Sunday 4 December 2005 11.00-17.00 & Special Winter Openings Sunday 5 February & Sunday 12 February 2006, 11.00-15.00
  • Admission charge (limited concessions)
  • Visitor entrance in Swan Walk
  • Wheelchair access via No 66 Royal Hospital Road

  • Schools by appointment at any time of the year, small charge, education pack available
  • Group visits by appointment on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, April-October
